This small community is on the western edge of the Whiteshell Provincial Park,
and lies on the north bank of the Winnipeg River. Its name comes from the
aboriginal name for the site "pinnowak," or calm waters. The area has great sailing, canoeing (with direct water access
to the Whiteshell Provincial Park), fishing, hiking, swimming, snowmobiling,
cross-country skiing, and one of the prettiest golf courses in Manitoba.
