This town is an oasis on the Prairie, with the Boyne River flowing through the well-treed community. Kings Park is in the centre of town and has a pool, tennis courts, a picnic area and a campground. There is a 5 kilometre long recreation pathway that features three bridges over the river, and a section of tall grass prairie. The town was named in 1880 by premier Rodmond Roblin after the Reverend Dr Albert Carman (1833 to 1917) who was the bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Ontario until 1884, and later the superintendent of the Methodist Church of Canada until 1915. Annual events include the Carman Potato and Blossom Festival (June) and the Carman Fiddle Festival (August).
