The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal
Located where Winnipeg's two rivers meet very close to downtown, The Forks is a public area used for many of Winnipeg's festivals and special events. These attract large crowds and make for a vibrant retail environment. During the winter, ice skaters can enjoy the covered circle near the Market or on the river (conditions permitting). The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal have many unique-to-Manitoba businesses and boutiques. Osborne Village
Just a quick hop across the Assiniboine River, south of downtown, Osborne Village is Winnipeg's oldest specialty shopping area with many unique shops, tasty restaurants, and a thriving night life. It is the focal point of a densely populated neighbourhood, and is home to one of the city's only 24-hour pharmacies. The commercial heart of the area is Osborne Street between River Avenue and the Corydon/Pembina Interchange. Call 474-1008 for info.

Exchange District
Winnipeg's historic Exchange District is located north of downtown, bound by Notre Dame, Adelaide, William/Market and the Red River. The Exchange District has a dense collection of turn-of- the-century buildings and warehouses (many of which have been recently renovated) and has a core of great night life, restaurants and specialty stores. The area is also home to many art galleries, museums and performing arts venues. Call 942-6716.

Academy Road
Shops are concentrated along the street's western edge of Academy Road between Kenaston and Elm Streets, just south of the Assiniboine river. The tree-lined thoroughfare has a variety of gourmet food stores, one-of-a-kind giftshops, upscale boutiques, restaurants and services.
