The Forks is the 'heart' of Winnipeg. In the community's early years, this was here the traders and explorers set out for points west, navigating along the banks of the Assiniboine River. It now has a festival market, a children's museum, paddlewheel boat tours, and of course, a National Historic Site. This is where Winnipeg parties, for holidays and for festivals.

Winnipeg has a long tradition of hospitality. It was once the first stop off the ocean-going ship from ethe East Coast or Europe on the way to the Gold Rushes of the 1850's, and it was a British Navy post until very recent history, so was host to visiting sailors and dignitaries. Seaside cities always seem to be gteeming with great restaurants, nightlife, and other fun happenings.
